I have seen fixes that relate to the user's registry settings from the client side but this looks like it is a problem with the SharePoint configuration. Ideally, I would like to remove and rebuild the OneDrive directories for these users but I have not found a solution that I think applies to our situation. It even says "Documents we have in common" as though the folder belongs to someone else. When the user goes to their OneDrive link via a browser, the normal upload / sync etc controls are not available and the desktop application cannot sync to the user's folder.
